Solstice

The full moon is rising over snow covered mountains

Its cold light is reflecting from sparkling fresh snow

Breathless silence of a cold winter night awaits us

Dog paws are crunching in deep snow

We are gathering around a pile of wood

Anticipating warmth

Stiff fingers are igniting a match

Flames start flickering hesitantly

We move closer

Finally, we feel the warmth

The flames are consuming the wood

Sparking ancient memories, connecting us to people who are seeking the warmth of a fire: now, before and after our time

Life is good
